Let’s Get This Party Of The Year Started

I'd be pissed too if Michael Gross was trying to usurp my fierceness.

I'd be pissed too if Michael Gross was trying to ususrp my fierceness.

Anna Wintour must be exhausted and the party has not even started. All this negative publicity about tonight’s Costume Institute Gala is even tiring me out.  Publicity whore Michael Gross is the culprit here. His book is coming out about the Metropolitan Museum and he timed it’s release with the Gala. Naturally, any salacious tidbit of gossip is good for him. Frankly, I think Anna Wintour gets a bad rap. Yes, she might be a bit tight-assed, but she has done for fashion and New York City what few have. She created Lucky Bitches. These are the girls who work at Vogue. I would have killed to be a lucky bitch when I was younger. Vogue staff always had a mystique, but under Anna’s tutelage, the editors, assistants, stylists, and secretaries were elevated to a higher level of unavailable. Getting an appointment at Vogue was like getting summoned to Heaven and if you were lucky (like her bitches) you would catch a glimpse of the Fashion God herself, walking right past you, unacknowledged, yet thrilled to have seen the Fashion Pontiff.

0013729c050d08485bcf081Tonight is Her Eminence’s night. She raises millions of dollars for that mosoleum with all these shenanigans and that should be enough for everyone to bow down. And she is paying homage to models, which is a great. If I see Jennifer Aniston on the cover of Vogue one more time I will gag, I mean…what?!? Granted, Anna has been guilty of putting only Hollywood actresses on the cover and relegating models to being in-book only, but I think this is her way of trying to steeer the ship back to supermodels. The reality is, the Age of the Supermodels is long gone. The new girls don’t have the je ne sais qua that Christy, Linda, Naomi, Cindy, Gia and Patty did. The industry needs to be brought back to the late 70’s, early 80’s fabulousness. And tonight is the first attempt for the Goddess of Fashion to make that statement and bring it back around. So when Michael Gross accuses Anna of damaging the Museum’s illustriousness by making tonight all about models, let him take a huge chill pill remember that his first book was called “Model” and he owes his career to them.

    Abe:

I couldn't agree with you more. I've always been passionate about fashion and it's just not the same without the Super Models that inspired me in my earlier years. It's time to bring FABULOUS back and yes a touch of 70s and 80s glam is recommended…

    Love your Blog!!!
