The Manzie Report -I Love Paris- Spring ’10

Just when you thought it was safe for Manzies to come out of the closet in droves from Milan, comes the newest crop of shows from Paris. And what a difference a city makes. Milan was uber-butch in comparison. Before I do my show and tell, the one major trend that kept appearing on the catwalks was “Men as women.” It seems to me that the statement is: since men fucked up our global economy (for the most part), why not dress them now as women so they feel castrated for their actions. At least that’s what I am taking away from this. Women have become butcher (Balenciaga), and men are a bunch of sissy nellies. Case in point: the skirt is THE must-have item for spring. Hey, give me a Colosseum full of gladiators any day of the week, but these boys are far from gladiators. They were more like gladiolas, if you ask me. You’ll see what I mean.

First of all, the face on this one is ransacked, herioin chic. And if Yves Saint Laurent thinks this is going to be the look, well, think again. The belted low-cut bustier in a total yikes.

Whereas this bustier on Jean-Pau Gaultier works much better. But, wait....what ami saying here...it's a bustier. I guess if you don't wear any jewles around the neck it works...NOT!

Oh, yes, in denim, this men's bustier really works. Would somebidy pinch me and tell me this is just one long Manzie dream. I mean...what?!? With the draed blazeer over the shoulder. What's next, man slides? At least show this ensemble with a pair of the newly reissued 70's men's Kork-ease.

Are we all in agreement here? Where was the stylist on this show. Missed opportunity.

Are we all in agreement here? These "mandals" would have been the right shoe for that Gaultier outfit. Missed opportunity.

I have to admit I loved the John Galiano show overall, so if I were to ever don a Manzie ensemble, it would be one of his. Clearly I would also not leave my house. But the Pharoh meets bag lady does something for me. Not quite sure what. Will discuss in therapy.

Just checking. Have I lost it or do you see the interesting styling here.

Just checking. Have I lost it or do you see the interesting styling here? I know what it is...anything that would cinch in my waist is something I have always hoped for.

Issey Miyake take Manzie to the enth power here as it is shown with a "quirky man-hat" to boot. Does this come in any other color ways? 'Cause I am all over this look. Aren't you?

I am by now means finished with Gaultier just yet. This halter pantsuit-let will command anyone's attention when they walk into a room.

Yoo hoo....this finsihes the look best. But what do I know?

And Jean-Paul closed his show that special evening look for men, a Gina Lollobrigida sequins bustier that will rock anyone's world.

Here's a skirt I was talking about earlier. This one's from Rick Owens. You think the hair compliments the look? I do.

Let's face it, Marc will singel handedly take this trend from the runway to the streets. Yes, it's been thre before, but when the arbiter of fashion lives in it, it will seep into the zeitgeist. Hey Marc, can you please bring out the men's Moo-Moo gown?

Let's face it, Marc Jacobs (and Alan Cumming, not pictured) will single-handedly take the skirt trend from the runway to the streets. Yes, it's been there before...ish, but when the arbiter of fashion lives in it, it will seep into the mainstream. Frankly, I wish Marc would kick out the men's Moo-Moo gown.

Oy vey is meer. Comme des Garcons...oh no you didn't.

Really Dries? Did you get these pants at any o the New Hork City street fairs? Come on. There are piles of these on every weekend, traffic-causing, sausage ladened, annoying, festoons.

Hubert de Givenchy would sooner be cause dead that put even a women down the runway in this get-up.

Hubert de Givenchy must be turning in his grave with his name attached to a get-up like this. He would not even send a women down the runway in this Hodge Podge Nelly Lodge.

Hugo Boss recommend one wear this suitina to the opera opening season. You will be the hit on the red carpet And hit on the way home...and I dont mean hit UP on. I mean fag bashed.

Now really, do you have to shlepp all the way to Paris to buy this Adam Kimmel (who) denim jumpsuit circa Marlboro Man? Jean-Claude Penney has them by the jillions.

I love Paris all the time. Regarding fashion – finally they breaking the uniformized "ice-age" of mens dressing and going comfortable. Congratulations!
I like to see more, and I like to see men in skirts. In other parts of our world men wearing skirts as an every-day wardrobe, they are happy and satisfied. Just show me some men in their every-day suits with tie smiling and walking, talking to other people, enjoying the life.
Okay, some outfits are questionable, but skirts are great for men – the only clothing what is really best for men's body shape.

I agree, they aren't look as gladiators. Fashion designers are free, so they create bizarre outfits to shock the journalists. In some parts they are doing a sabotage against men's skirts. Watch Marc Jacobs, he looks "normally" in a skirt, it's sign that is possible for man to look masculine even in skirt (or mainly in skirt, because skirt is masculine, better for our anatomy and was traditionally part of men's wardrobe). Skirts are better for us, are comfortable, healthy, I think it's time for men's skirts to reach mainstream and as I herd, some chains introduce skirts for men in spring 2010 collections (or skorts called "kilts" as H&M).

Those that are against the idea of men wearing skirts are anti – American.

  5. Nicely the situation was initially a incredibly good run whilst it lasted but yet possibly not a jolt to discover Usa Soccer shed at this specific state. We could try out once additional in 4 years.
