“He’s 89 years old, so of course he could be very right about the end of the world being on May 21. Or very close to that.” So said Jon Stewart on Harold Camping, the Christian radio kook on his claim that then end of the world is nigh, actually today. As in any minute now. Sure wish I had a couple of Percocets to wash down with my coffee and then slink into a Calgon bath to be taken away, finally, once and for all. The idea that this was the last day on Earth and I am still… Read More »

Last night’s Costume Institute Gala was the New York City version of the Oscar Red Carpet. As Joan Rivers will surely attest this Friday night on Fashion Police, there were hits and plenty of misses. Before I share my best and worst list, I must give a shout out to Stella McCartney. This really was her night. Sure, Sarah Burton was the star of the night politically, but in terms of which designer had the best showing on the glamor-pusses? It was Stella by a mile because she dressed some of the major players of the evening.… Read More »

Six days? Six days? Come on. That is the most presumptuous, over-the-top, full-of-themselves wedding plan on Earth. Look, I love weddings. They are always a blast. And no doubt there was much fun and games at the recent nuptials of Madame Katy Perry and Sir Royal Hiney Russell Brand. But really…six days? That sounds painful. Granted, if you are schlepping your family and friends to India, you have to do something special since they are light years away from home. They better have provided private tours of the Taj Mahal…at least. But seeing what egomaniacs these two lovebirds are, it… Read More »

Bob Morris wrote a witty piece in the New York Observer today that I wanted to comment on. I adore Bob’s writing. Always have. His article covers the uncovering of people these days. Whether it is short shorts at dinner parties, the Lady Gaga bee-keeper outfit that she wore to her sisters graduation or the current Marc Jacobs spread…literally…for his new cologne Bang, everyone is taking it off and showing their hooch. This phenomenon of people taking off their clothes seems to have taken a big turn when Demi Moore made it OK to be nine months pregnant and nude… Read More »

Sears? Really?

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE4YVk1n6t8 Somebody please hold me up, I am dizzy from having just watched the Sears promotional video on fall footwear trend news. Sears and trend in the same sentence is a stretch. And this is proof of the downside to online video content that is contributing to the bastardization of fashion. There I was, innocently perusing Perez Hilton, he who has sold out to anyone that will pay him a dime, and lo and behold, was the commercial for Sears, staring Elle magazine stylist Francesca Mills. Here’s another downside to online original video content, literally everyone and their cousin thinks… Read More »

Here we go again….yet, another celebrity-turned-stink. This time, Bruce Willis is the man of the hour. Yup, because I know how much you have wanted to smell like Bruce Willis since his Moonlighting days. I personally wanted to smell like him when he was in Death Becomes Her, with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Speaking of which, these gals would NEVER sign on to become a fragrance. Back to Bruce. The Bruce Willis Collection includes an eau de parfum, hair and body wash, deodorant spray and after shave balm. HAIR?!? Have they seen him in the past 20 years? This… Read More »

Why on Earth would Rihanna take 30 grand for just sitting at a club. What is she…A Jersey Shore hag now? Yikes. – DIGITAL SPY Lena Horne…rest in peace. – HUFFINGTON POST Nordstom’s Crack is opening in New York City tomorrow. Looks more like Ross For Less. Just what we need, more downmarket marketing. Yikes. – WWD Christina Aguilera and Leona Lewis to tour this summer. That is hot. Period. – THAT GRAPE JUICE Proving my mom’s philosophy that “there is a cover for every pot” and in this case for every crack. – D LISTED Click here to follow… Read More »

You know you have hit the big top when a fragrance bears your name, or your pet’s name, or your favorite childhood memory’s name of some such nonsense. You all know my aversion to celebrity fashion designers. Now I am officially adding celebrity schtoonk-meisters to the list of things that make me say fotz or “ewww”. Let me start by mentioning my favorite exception to this parade, none other than Dame Elizabeth Taylor. When Elizabeth created White Diamonds, she was pretty much out of the movie business, still  gorgeous and well…friggen Liz Taylor. Don’t even try to put Sarah Jessica… Read More »

I just was reading through the list on fashionista.com about what fashion brands will pay to sit front row during New York Fashion Week. What a crock of hooey. Let me start by saying that part of my business is orchestrating front row talent for assorted companies and none of what they are reporting is true. What I think fashionista.com did was call a slew of garden variety talent agents and received generic quotes. One thing you learn about casting a front row is…never call agents. They love throwing out ridiculous nilly-willy high prices. And that does not even get… Read More »
