Holy Toledo

I love The Toledos. They are my favorite couple in the city, the fashion industry, maybe the world. Well…the Jolie-Pitts are pretty groovy…but I don’t know them. Last night I was at Isabel and Ruben Toledo‘s cocktail party for Ruben’s new book, Fashion Almanac, where we talked about fashion and bloggers and where we are headed as a society, an industry, you know…chat that happens at book parties as opposed to party parties, where it’s all about “Who was there”…air kiss, air kiss…”Did you hear who is getting fired”…air kiss air kiss…”You look great” (lie)….air kiss air kiss.  We had… Read More »

Bright Stephen Burrows and warm woolen mittens… Though white paper packages tied up with strings are not on my list, these are a few of my favorite people. Unless you are dead, you know that Target is opening its first store in New York City…East Harlem to be exact. Yes, Target does do great events, like that amazing fashion show held at The Standard New York. And they get fabulous press, to the point where… Read More »

So, Target is under fire for making a generous contribution to a wanna-be, fag-bashing hater in Minnesota. That is, after all, the Mecca of style…downmarket style anyway. Target is such a contradiction of terms. Who is their “target” consumer? We see by walking into any store who is stocking up on child-labor made goodies. Whenever I enter the few stores that are a stones throw from Manhattan, I think, “Am I in Kansas? Where do these people come from?” However, Target is brilliant at all levels of marketing and public relations, well, except for the current fag-hating thing. Their visuals… Read More »
