It started in New York Fashion Week…continued at London Fashion Week and this trend was also prevalent in Milan. Shoes were no longer just shoes…they were a statement…the focus of the catwalks. At Phi, all the girls wore heavy shoes…even with little mini dresses. Anna Sui also showed heavy shoes with mini skirts. In London, Matthew Williamson covered the foot with fabric and bows which drew attention away from the clothes, if you ask me. So, what does this trend tell us? That the shoe makes the outfit? Or was it trying to dissuade the consumer from considering such a… Read More »

Before the Paris shows get under way, I wanted to stop and take stock of the images I saw today from paparazzi-land that struck me as either annoying, or questionable. Just because these people are photographed, does not make them interesting. I have done several editions on IMW, called The Party’s Over, where I feature images of “party people” that are basically a bunch of nobodies who think they are somebody, or shall we say, a wanna-be somebody that really is nobody, or perhaps, a wanna-be who will always be…in essence…a never-was. Am I clear? Does that make sense? It… Read More »

The other day I sarcastically declared that it was World Fashion Week. It was actually a tee-hee for all the globetrotting editors, huffing and puffing to and from all ports of call, being beckoned to report on all the fashion news. I had no idea that I was 100% correct…that there is, in fact, this weird World Wide Fashion Week going on, yet no one had officially declared it such…except me…by accident…in jest. Now, let me immediately interject that in the case of Madrid and New Zealand (I kid you not) that these fashion weeks are a total fotz. Why… Read More »

Cheeks…they are all the rage. Cheeks are the new black. Everyone is getting “the cheeks”. If you don’t have “the cheeks”, then you just don’t have cheeks. The use of facial fillers such as Juvederm, Sculptra, Restylane, Radiesse, and Collagen have become the short answer to the long question, “Why must we age?” New York Magazine did an in-depth report on The New Face, which is the dire attempt to bring your old face back, the face you had when you were young, rather than the tragically obvious face-lift. Face-lifts are sooo last decade. Fillers are what’s happening, and everyone… Read More »

Now we see that there is a global consciousness to dressing manzies. Sure, I mean…what?!? may have been the one to coin that phrase, but let’s face it… designers have been hell bent on feminizing men for centuries. Look no further than the French courtesans. As London Fashion Week wound down, it was not easy to find a lot of menswear designers until thanks to Zimbio, boy did I find a doozie. The show was called Man…which was to promote Topman. Let me say here that I use that term loosely because ain’t no man I know gonna wear this… Read More »

Earlier this week, I proclaimed that we are in the midst of World Fashion Week. There is excitement everywhere. New York, London, yesterday we uncovered some Madrid action and not to be outdone, we have Lakme Fashion Week in India. Here are a few images that I have unearthed and glad I did.… Read More »

OK kiddies. Gather round. Uncle Abe is going to tell you a story. It’s a fairy tale…because clearly, plenty of fairies are involved in this story. It is the story known as Madrid Fashion Week. Yes, some of this story is very scary. Like a horror movie. And other parts are really funny…because scary and funny make for a good story. Now, there not much else left for me to say because this is a picture-book story. So…once upon a time…in a land far away…there was a land called Spain. Spain is known for many things, like hot Latin men,… Read More »

World Wide Fashion Week. That’s what we are in right now. Soon the fashion editors will feel like they are in that movie from the 60’s. “If It’s Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium”. The poor dears. Gallivanting to and fro…London, Paris, Milan, New York. Oh, their aching feet. After a seemingly interesting and mild New York Fashion Week, the next stop is London, currently celebrating 25 years of quirky nonsense…sprinkled with a few good designers. In 1984, George Orwell’s dystopia, as predicted, was under way. Today we increasingly experience shades of this nightmare world. The thing is, London has a… Read More »

On the first day of Fashion Week (my true love gave to me….nah…doesn’t work) my trusting correspondent Johnna Escobedo went to the tents in search of an I Mean…What?!? moment. Now, this was the first time that I was trusting someone with such a monumental task. But, in the end…I knew my Johnna well enough to know that she would not disappoint.… Read More »

Now that we have gotten through New York Fashion Week, and speaking of fashion, I wonder how the filming of Sex and the City 2 is coming along. In the midst of all the mayhem and fabulousness of the week, I saw images from the set of the film and just needed to get through the shows and my doubled up work-load before I addressed them. Look, I am a gay man, so naturally I am looking forward to the sequel…or I am afraid prequel…as these images show. I love these ballsy independent woman. I can also appreciate the fawn-like… Read More »
