More Bla Bla on "gaga"

The message in the 1951 film, The Day The Earth Stood Still was a warning to Earthlings that they were in danger of destroying themselves. How prophetic. We have all experienced “The Day The Earth Stood Still”. There are only a handful of those days in one’s life that are vividly remembered as though they happened yesterday. Not just fond memories of a life worth living such as your first kiss or better yet, that first roll in the hay. I’m talking about monumentally, historic days that you live through. Days like September 11, 2001 or November 22, 1963 when John F. Kennedy was shot… Read More »

Hedi Slimane vs. Cathy Horyn “Let’s get ready to rumble!” Yikes, talk about “In this Corner”. That silly Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey dust up comes off like two kittens playing compared to the battle royale between Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent Paris versus Cathy Horyn, The New York Times fashion critic. I mean… brew-haha, only no one is laughing. What has bubbled up to a fever pitch between the fashion designer and the critic is beyond beyond. Let me preface this with, I am a huge Cathy Horyn fan and though she might be getting bad press these days… Read More »

In all my thousand years on Earth, I have not felt such a palpable energy about Paris Fashion Week. With Lanvin so breathtaking, Rick Owens beyond cool and Balenciaga so interesting, I am green with envy at the editors sitting front row at the upcoming Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior shows. Relegated to sitting behind my desk like many sad bloggers, I can at least rejoice at the heralded return to the glory days of Paris fashion. There was a time when New York Fashion Week stole a bit of the thunder, when celebrities were not ruining the front… Read More »

httpv://youtu.be/tYkwziTrv5o Yes, her venture into the  schmatta business annoyed me, but when it comes to Madonna and her music, she is the grooviest. (Goo-Goo GaGa) I love Madonna’s new video Girl Gone Wild, the ad for her new Truth or Dare fragrance, and the recent performance at the Super Bowl. All the naysayers can take a powder. And when I say powder, I mean some MDMA, and then they should listen to Into The Groove…and you can dance. httpv://youtu.be/ZrLJXp3nYiE… Read More »

Last night, I went to the opening of Jesus Christ Superstar. While anxiously waiting to get into the theater, a slew of theater types gawked at the red carpet featuring unrecognizable people, except Carmella Soprano and the blond in Smash. I thought back to 1971 when I first saw the play. What was groundbreaking about the show then, and in fact still now, is that Jesus Christ Superstar is not your run of the mill theater going entertainment, which plagues much of the Great White Way. THANK GOD. And when I say God, I may even be referring to Jesus… Read More »

Let’s face it, celebrity fragrances are here to stay and the field is getting more competitive as the seconds tick. Kanye West is coming out with one as is Madonna, the world’s greatest marketing expert. Naturally, Lady Gaga can’t miss a day without doing something media savvy, so get ready to smell like Le Hint de Gaga Schtunk. Rumor has it that a Nicki Minaj scent is in the pipeline and betcha my bottom dollar that some Real Housewife is seriously contemplating her options. HSN, here she comes. Hey, if Tovah Borgnine (yes, Ernest Borgnine’s wife) can do it successfully,… Read More »

You cannot believe who is on Baba Wawa’s list for 2011. Fascinating? I call them Fotz-inating. (Etymology of the word Fotz: It started out as a sarcastic reference to something that is or someone that “thinks” they are fascinating. So, it went from, “Oh, you’re fascinating” to “You are fotzinating” to “fotzy balloons” to “fotzy” to the currently, most used…”fotz”.)… Read More »
