More Bla Bla on "chanel"

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dnc7mpYHK-Y Last night at dinner, my friends and I got into a heated discussion on the difference between “yikes” and “eek”. These are two of my favorite expressions, with eek being the more recent entry to the list of Abe-isms. They both apply to various situations that express discontent with a situation or person. When using yikes, there must have a hint of humor in the situation at hand. Celebrity fashion designers are yikes. Whereas some celebrities, like Charlie Sheen, are an eek. Comprendevous? Anyhoo, speaking of yikes and eek, I watched one of the Karl Lagerfeld videos for Magnum… Read More »

Talk of Adolf Hitler rages on, between the recent John Galliano flap nightmare, coupled with the resurfaced, vintage footage of Francoise Dior, Christian’s lovely Nazi niece, chatting about how much she loves Hitler, too. My idea for an I Love Hitler T-shirt is not such a bad idea. Well, think of the press it would get. But I digress. The above picture is Eva ‘I Love Hitler’ Braun, pictured in black face, inspired by her favorite film The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson, the Jew. What is wrong with this picture? Besides everything. It is like the N-word in a… Read More »

Hot off the rumor mill! Riccardo Tisci is replacing John Galliano at the House of Dior. Really? But Carine Roitfeld will be the resident stylist. Double really? As you know, I am all about Haider Ackermann, and my suggestion was for him to replace Galliano. But the world surely does not revolve around me and what I think. Anyhoo, I’d like to think that Haider has an unofficial deal in place with Karl Lagerfeld to follow him at Chanel, so why go to Dior? Especially with all the fashion bitches, claws out, ready to trash next season’s collection, no matter… Read More »

UPDATE March 8, 2011: It’s official: black IS back! Don’t believe me? Check out the dark mood at Chanel. We all know that Karl Lagerfeld rules the fashion roost worldwide. So, if Karl says “Black uber alles” then so it is. And, from the looks of his somewhat over stuffed collection, black is here and hopefully to stay. When I say overstuffed, I mean the quilted, unflattering jumpsuits that will never live on the streets, but just in the magazines. For now, I am reveling in Black Power! March 7, 2011: For the past few seasons, fashion editors have been… Read More »

Yesterday I reported on that which was yikes from the Spring Couture Collections in Paris. Here are a few more entries to round out my overview on what not to wear. First of all, Chanel was kind of boring. That said, a good editing was in order because 67 looks was not necessary. Besides that, the few other couture houses, and I use the term loosely, were simply bla. Not much else to say really because pictures say a thousand words.… Read More »

Spring is in the air. Well…maybe not the weather part but surely the Spring Couture Collections are in full regalia in Paris. Did you ever stop to wonder what you would do if you were a real lady who lunches and had the resources (and the old, fat, rich husband) to be one of those lucky few who can afford to buy couture each season? Ode to the good life. Winters in Gstaad, Christmas in Martinique with Mick Jagger and L’Wren Scott, pied-à-terres in Paris AND New York, villas in Bel-Air AND Lake Como next door to George Clooney. What… Read More »

NEW ALERT: SAMMI “SWEETHEART” JUST LAUNCHED A JEWELRY LINE. You know that I was not letting this ditty go by unnoticed. Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, yes, the bitchy one from MTV’s Jersey Shore, is actually launching a fragrance. Dangerous will be out in stores in time for those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer at the Jersey Shore. I have a hard enough time trying to figure out what kind of girl wants to smell like a cat, with Katy Perry’s Purr or Kate Walsh’s (ex)Boyfriend. Oh, and let’s not forget Jennifer Aniston’s Lolavie, whatever the hell that means, that she… Read More »

Roy Teeluck announced today that his eponymous hair salon, located across from the Four Seasons on E. 57th Street, will move closer to Fifth Avenue, nestled between Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel, at 5 East 57th Street. The theme of the new salon is a throwback to 1970’s glamour and will be a total beauty experience from head to toe…literally. Roy Teeluck and the salon have a diverse clientele including Olivia Palermo, Bar Refaeli, Tinsley Mortimer, Sigourney Weaver, Neve Campbell, Hillary Clinton to name a few. Everyone and anyone in the fashion/media industries has been monitoring the major changes that recently took place at W Magazine. With Stefano Tonchi at the helm, having left his post at The New York Times Magazine, all eyes are on each issue of W. The recent covers shot by Inez van Lamsverde & Vinoodh Matadin have been dynamic and the fashion editorial pages look great. Much of the filler content seems old…but that is due to the internet delivering content at the speed of light. When I read that Kim Kardashian will be nude on the cover of the November… Read More »

Oh, please with this controversy about the new Elle magazine cover photo featuring Gabourey Sidibe. Yikes. First of all, Essence magazine must be kicking themselves for not putting her on their cover first. Say what you want, she ain’t pretty enough to be on the cover of a fashion / beauty magazine. And I am dying to see how many more issues will sell (such a poet) with Gabourey gracing (for lack of a better word) the cover. W magazine did something like this a couple of years ago by featuring Ugly Betty‘s America Ferrera when that show was popular.… Read More »
