Carine Roitfeld Tapped As Global Fashion Director @ Harper’s BAZAAR
The war of the fashion glossies is on. And although Anna Wintour is sure to act like it is business as usual, I am sure the back room arm twisting for advertisers and editorial is about to get really sick. Poor… Read More »
Oh, The Mother & Child Reunion
Here’s a line that I can’t figure out: Oh, the mother and child reunion, is only a motion away. I get the other verse, when Paul Simon sings, Oh, the mother and child reunion is only a moment away. But, whatever, speaking of moments, Barneys New York is having their moment as we speak while they begin to roll out the “new, improved” Barneys New York since Mark Lee grabbed the reigns. First up, the new Fall ad campaign styled by and starring Carine Roitfeld. Most of what I see I like very much. Not swacked with the above image… Read More »
Social Media Climbers
The sad truth is that the social media landscape has become overpopulated with social media climbers. What started out as a perfectly communal idea, well, rating chicks on college campuses, but beyond that, keeping in touch with friends and making new ones, has turned into a massive mass marketing mess. Sprinkle that with a slew of celebrities spewing nonsense, and what is happening is something I call “visual white noise”. Facebook and Twitter are dissolving into one long ad roll. There is no doubt that CBS-TV is hoping that Ashton Kutcher will suck up to his millions of Twitter followers,… Read More »
All I can say is that the new Vogue Paris cover featuring model, Giselle Bundchen, is the best news. They tend to anyway, but with Emmanuelle Alt at the helm of the pub since the abrupt resignation from Carine Roitfeld, I am glad that some things don’t change. The worst part of most American fashion magazine are their covers. Excuse me, Jennifer Hudson is a lovely girl and Jennifer Aniston is best served on the small screen, but please, leave most Jennifers off the covers of Vogue and that includes Jennifer Garner, who I think is stunning. What can I… Read More »
Hot off the rumor mill! Riccardo Tisci is replacing John Galliano at the House of Dior. Really? But Carine Roitfeld will be the resident stylist. Double really? As you know, I am all about Haider Ackermann, and my suggestion was for him to replace Galliano. But the world surely does not revolve around me and what I think. Anyhoo, I’d like to think that Haider has an unofficial deal in place with Karl Lagerfeld to follow him at Chanel, so why go to Dior? Especially with all the fashion bitches, claws out, ready to trash next season’s collection, no matter… Read More »
There is much speculation as to why Carine Roitfeld resigned from French Vogue. I was at a holiday party last night where a tony crowd of fashionistas were a buzz about why, who, what, when. etc. Naturally, I, being Polyanna think that the reason is because Carine is so fierce. Surely if I was that fierce I would resign from whatever I was doing and just be. No, I have a sneaking suspicion that Jonathan Newhouse was beginning to make her cow-tow to advertisers. Especially the American companies that are opening flagship stores in Paris…which means…start sucking up, honey. Look,… Read More »
Kernels of Dish (Saturday)
These two queens will star in the new Bravo car wreck, Gay Housewives of New York City. We’ve come this far only to get set way back. – GAWKER Anna Wintour must be gagging. Carine Roitfeld channels Elvira meets Bat Girl Hag. – THE CUT Kathy Griffin will literally do anything on Earth for publicity or to prove her D Listed-ness. Yes, bedazzling your hoo-ha (which IMW discovered ages ago) for cancer is honorable…but… -DLISTED Here the situation that The Situation was in. – TMZ I gotta hand it to Kim Kardashian. As much as I tend to goof on… Read More »
