Minnesota Twins: Pawlenty & Bachmann

Now, here's a Republican Party nativity scene for you.

The battle rages on between Tim (Zzzz) Pawlenty and Michele (Not tonight, I have a headache) Bachmann. He says this, she says that and the mudslinging has started before these horses asses are out of the gate. They can both relax because neither will ever be the Big Kahuna. Yesterday, at Governor Andrew Cuomo‘s event to kick-off the  Marriage Equality Act in New York, I spoke to one of the key strategists that spearheaded the landmark civil rights bill. Interestingly enough, he told me that Minnesota is one of the six states primed to follow New York’s lead, and that the legislation almost passed in Minnesota the last time it came to the floor. Now, somebody tell me what is missing from this picture?  If Minnesota is that forward, how on Earth do they have a homophobe like Michelle Bachmann as the state’s mouthpiece? I don’t get it. But then again, in this political climate, there is not much to get. Socially we are moving backwards, financially we are moving downwards, and the only thing going up is the unemployment rate. If Minnesota has such a progressive movement due to the liberal Twin Cities, then they are doing themselves a disservice by not getting more assertive with their message that Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann do not in fact speak for their state, rather they are just a couple of egomaniacs seeking the highest office in the land because they think they are all that and a bag of chips. Which, by the way, they are not.
