When Paying Celebrities Backfires

They look cute together and all but...there is no story here.

Mark Sanchez did the worst thing on Earth yesterday by telling the media that he is NOT dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler, rather, they were both compensated to attend an event, met there, and simply got along. Well, maybe not the worst thing on Earth, seeing that the Gulf Oil spill has taken the top spot, but for the reason of admitting to the media that you were paid to attend an event. And I quote: “I met her at an event at the Tribeca Film Festival, and we were both compensated for being there and both happened to be in the same place,” he told radio station KLAC in Los Angeles. “So they took all these pictures of us watching the video, kind of doing what we were supposed to do so it looked like we were awfully close.” Ouch…for two reasons, because it says in so many words:

  1. “I might ever date Jamie-Lynn Sigler…I mean…she’s a nice girl, and all, but…”
  2. “Why else would I bother going to an LG Infinia event, Tribeca Film Festival or otherwise, without showing me the money”.

Whoever put that deal together for Mark Sanchez to show up at the Keep Surfing premiere, is cringing galore. And the client must be furious plenty. You just need to be very careful as to who you pay to go anywhere…and granted, though the media overplayed their hand with making a love match between Mark and Jamie-Lynn, anyway you slice tit, this was a quagmire of fotziness.
