We Helped Raise 1.4 Million Dollars

Dani Stahl pretending to be one of the Wharton School Scholarship Babies

You see, we do have an altruistic bone in our bodies. It’s not all bitching and moaning about celebrity designers and cheek implants. Not at all. I Mean…What?!? has a long history of supporting great causes and last night was one of those Good Witch nights. No, we did not help to raise 1.4 million dollars for Haiti. Rather we attended the dinner of the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund, honoring the Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Award. A while back I spoke at a panel at The New York Times Center about the future of fashion. That was the precursor event to last night. Mary Alice Stephenson, Dani Stahl of Nylon, and Alex Gonzalez of AR New York, regrouped to support this really worthwhile cause. Last night we awarded over 110 kids a scholarship to pursue their fashion dreams. It’s like Project Runway with Education. Really amazing. And these freshly scrubbed, somewhat bedazzled students from all over the country were at Cipriani 42nd Street chowing down on veal chops with the likes of us. Well…shhh. These kids are adorable…and I just hope they don’t become celebrity designers, cause you know I will have no choice but to…

Anyhooo. Alex and Dani and a Karla Martinez from Interview…thanks for making this otherwise big corporate thingie, a pleasant experience. And to Michael Flutie and Sean Ramsay of  Madwood Studios & MFO respectively…come on dolls, let’s do Fashion City News!

NOTE:  YOU CAN HELP HAITI BY SENDING $10 TO THE RED CROSS BY TEXTING HAITI TO 90999. IT WILL COME OFF YOUR NEXT BILL.
