Everyday there is at least one story in the headlines that peaks my interest…rather…hits my annoyance bone…hence, my daily I MEAN…WHAT?!? Today was special. Nothing really struck my fancy. Sure, I could go on and on about Barack Obama’s little speech in Cairo (and when I say little, I mean that in the most loving way) but, eh, I’ll let the Republicans and Israelis chew on that one. I saw part of the speech and have no opinion either way. He’s a fabulous speaker, so what else is new? The issues with the Muslim world, especially beyond their own borders, are not going to go away any time soon. Sorry, but the word “anti” will be with us for many years to come. You can expound from Cairo, The Great Wall of China or friggen Ipanema for that matter. What’s wrong with Muslim extremists is related to human nature. And we all know that shit won’t change. Shift? Maybe…hopefully. Has Obama taken a great first step? Yes…and bravo, doll. But great expectations? Not here anyway.

In other no news: “Michelle Obama’s East Wing Shakeup” is a big, fat bust too. Jackie Norris, Michelle’s Chief of Staff is leaving her post to become a senior adviser to the Corporation for National and Community Service. This is not a “shakeup” rather, a fabulous step up for Norris. Movin’ on up as it were. And having done a wonderful job gettting Michelle squared away in her position as First Lady, it is time for her to do something else. Who would begrudge her that? At the end of the day, the title “Chief of Staff” is merely an overglorified “Uber-Assistant”. ‘Cause there’s one thing I learned during my years in Hollywood, “Either your talent or you’re sucking up to talent”. In that same vein…Norris is getting out from under. So we wish Susan Sher the best in here new role.
