Here is a tidbit that must be pointed out. Elie Tahari is being sued by an anti-Semite for having to work in New Jersey and becoming massively depressed. First of all, I am from New Jersey and I understand depression, but blame your parents not your boss. Read and weep in nymag.com… Read More »

David Lerner, My Nephew, Is All Grown Up

My nephew, David Lerner, just shot his first ever look book for his women’s contemporary line called DL Collection. This behind-the-scenes video features his Maternity and Sport capsule collections, too. Wishing him the best. All I can say is that the new Vogue Paris cover featuring model, Giselle Bundchen, is the best news. They tend to anyway, but with Emmanuelle Alt at the helm of the pub since the abrupt resignation from Carine Roitfeld, I am glad that some things don’t change. The worst part of most American fashion magazine are their covers. Excuse me, Jennifer Hudson is a lovely girl and Jennifer Aniston is best served on the small screen, but please, leave most Jennifers off the covers of Vogue and that includes Jennifer Garner, who I think is stunning. What can I… Read More »

UPDATE March 8, 2011: It’s official: black IS back! Don’t believe me? Check out the dark mood at Chanel. We all know that Karl Lagerfeld rules the fashion roost worldwide. So, if Karl says “Black uber alles” then so it is. And, from the looks of his somewhat over stuffed collection, black is here and hopefully to stay. When I say overstuffed, I mean the quilted, unflattering jumpsuits that will never live on the streets, but just in the magazines. For now, I am reveling in Black Power! March 7, 2011: For the past few seasons, fashion editors have been… Read More »

The news about John Galliano’s anti-Semitic rant and his professed love for Hitler is one of the worst bits of news to come along since the War on Terror and the rising obesity rate. John Galliano’s shows for Christian Dior have always topped my best collections list. His flair for the dramatic and artistry put him leagues above the rest of fashion’s elite. Clearly, John Galliano is at the height of his addictions and it is hard to hold people accountable for their actions. But, as a concentration camp survivor’s son, it is hard to immediately forgive this brilliant, raving… Read More »

AND THE WINNER IS…BORRIS POWELL Last week, I worked on the Oscars Designer Challenge 2011. It is a pretty cool concept: Up-and-coming fashion designers submit sketches of red carpet dresses to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The best designs are selected by a jury and then the dresses are featured in the Challenge, as a runway presentation to the media. The winning dress is worn by that girl who hands out the Oscars to each winner, so the visibility is global fabulosity. If you think about it, its a better reality show that The Fashion Show or… Read More »

Exotic beauties, Rosario Dawson, and MTV Skins’ Sophia Black D’Elia (recently sitting front row at G-Star Raw fashion show) looked stunning in their glossy tresses done by Roy Teeluck. The celebrity hairstylist just opened his new salon on 57th and 5th Avenue in time for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week to a resounding success. Word is that Olivia Palermo, client of the Andre Davis at the salon will host the opening in the Spring. For more information, please click here, Johnna Escobedo, johnna@abenyc.com… Read More »
