Would everyone just leave Michelle Obama and her wardrobe alone for five minutes? I have never seen anything like it. This woman is not allowed to step out of the shower without some yenteh looking her up and down, snapping a photo and printing it, and as of late…dishing her. Today the NY Daily News trashed Michelle for sporting an expensive, alligator purse. And naturally, to salacify (yes, I made that word up, it means to make more salacious) the wearing of the bag, the NYDN offers up a vote to their “sophisticated” readers as to whether she “should” or “should not” don such luxuries in these hard economic times. Would somebody please help me…and her…but me, too? Who cares what someone in Ozone Park thinks about Michelle Obama’s alligator bag? Fashion coverage should be restricted to fashion media outlets. And daily rags should focus on what they do best…um…
The thing that pisses me off the most about the media backlash to Michelle is how she is expected to be and dress like every other shnook. She is the First Lady. Now go back to your Queens Plaza loving ass and leave her alone. That people expect her to be relegated to wearing J Crew and Gap forever is ridiculous. First of all, those moments were orchestrated for media opportunities. On another note, I received a text yesterday from a fashion editor friend that black designers were fatootzed that she wasn’t supporting them. Oy, she cannot win. Michelle has, in fact, worn Tracy Reese on several occasions and I don’t see her as a Stephen Burrows muse.
Now, I love Michelle, but surely she has made many fashion faux pas since she’s arrived on the scene. And I do believe she needs a gay in her posse to help with some of her styling choices. The overly umpire, wide-belted story she has going on, which serves to camouflage her ass, is actually drawing more attention. Quite honestly though, I don’t need to see every outfit she wears. Think about your own wardrobe. You might think that every single outfit you wear, from day to night, including when you are just out to walk the dog, is flawless, but honey it ain’t…unless you are Anna Wintour. The same holds true for Michelle.
We are based on a Christian Nation- not Muslim……..Jenlynn: I agree that we were primarily based as a Christian nation, but as such, should we not show tolerance toward all people (Muslims included)? Does Christianity not teach us this??
