More Bla Bla on "golden age of hollywood"
When did these tacky gifting suites enter the realm of fabulous? Who were/are these people that infiltrated the groovy backstage green rooms in order to display their sad wares? And when did real celebrities begin to frolic through free shit not minding that it becomes a press opportunity? When did fabulous go all wrong? Somewhere between the Golden Age of Hollywood and now, things have gotten cock-eyed. Press is no longer real press, and celebrities are no longer real celebrities, rather a bunch of schnorrers (Yiddish for moocher, as in Minnie the). Any schnook (Yiddish for stupid person) can be… Read More »
Knowing Nothing.
When I read that Knowing, the new film with Nicholas Cage took the top spot at box office this weekend, it made me think of how clueless the American film going public is. During the Great Depression in the 1930’s, Hollywood’s offerings included lavish musicals, stunning actresses, dapper actors, stunning photography (George Hurrell). There was a high art to the film industry that barely exists today. Now, with the studios marketing to the lowest common denominator, what would you expect? A film that gets panned such as Knowing and Friday the 13th land at the top of the heap. I… Read More »
All I want to know is whether Tom Ford’s intern had the dress dry-cleaned, or wet cleaned, since Anne Hathaway wore it.… Read More »
In the Golden Days of Hollywood, no one cared about much besides the stars of stage and screen. Tallulah Bankhead, Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Clark Cable, the list goes on. Seems like we have graduated (or what’s the opposite of that?) to be far more concerned with the whereabouts and goings on of the lowest of lowbrows of our society. The Nobody Newzzz is back and we have plenty to crow about. Crow as in old crow because the top story this week is about the Salahis. You will remember Michaele and Tartiq Salahi, that couple of Gross Baboons who… Read More »
Who Are Our Kate & William?
Fresh off the heels of the most romantic moment in couples history, I am left wondering who we have in the United States that can remotely be called our own royal couple. Enter Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson. Don’t look now but the slow burn of promoting the next and final-ish chapters of the Twilight Saga has begun, kicking off with an exclusive cover story in Entertainment Weekly. The timing seems intentional, can’t you hear them in the EW cover meeting now, “Let’s put Bella and Edward on the cover, America is drunk with romance thanks to the Royal Wedding“.… Read More »
Brangelina Envy
Poor, poor New York Post. They have actually stooped low enough to trash Brad and Angie, Hollywood’s golden couple. Today’s article by Danico Lo scolds The Branges for not stopping to talk to Ryan Seacrest or Tim Gunn. I mean…what?!? Honey, just cause YOU would stop and talk to anyone who will listen, does not mean that our coolest, smartest, hippest, most rooted in fabulous Hollywood couple should stop and talk blather with the likes of Tim Gunn, who looks like he drools while gushing or Ryan, who I think is great, but let’s face it, red carpet questions are… Read More »
