While we Americans were chomping on barbeque, watermelon and “oohing” and “aahing” over the 4th of July fireworks, Paris was not sizzling as the Fall Couture Shows got under way. There is nothing sadder than looking through the images of Christian Dior, the one show that I waited for with bated breath each season, knowing that John Galliano would not disappoint. I even looked forward to what kind of drag he would sport at the end of the show. There was nothing of the sort for Fall. Or nothing of the short for fall. Fall short…get it? Surely the reviews… Read More »

I have been feeling very nostalgic lately. We are living in a time of war, poverty, obesity, adultery, mediocrity, obsession with celebrity, and the Tea Party. It reminds me of that scene in The Ten Commandments when Moses comes down with the tablets only to find the “chosen people” have completely run amuck. Donald Trump is like that Edward G. I just wanted to say that as someone who admires Ms. Menkes, it warms the cockles of my heart to be on her same page. As someone that works within digital and social media paradigm, we recognize the challenge is to seize the moment and enhance all forms of advertising… Read More »

There’s something that I find increasingly odd about David Axelord, chief strategist of Barak Obama’s presidential campaign and top strategist in the White House. Maybe odd is not the right word. How about he makes me increasingly uncomfortable. I was watching Obama’s 900th press appearance last night on every channel (come on, American Idol is pre-empted for a re-run?) and I noticed David Axelrod in the background, fully smug, chewing gum, but not like the kind of chewing that one would expect from a publicist on a red carpet. You always see publicists chewing gum on a red carpet, but… Read More »
