The Story of the Week in Women’s Wear Daily is about the beauty brand MARK selling their wares via Facebook. Do you really want to add another layer to your already meaningless visit to Facebook? Precious time that does not include reconnecting with your 8th grade friends…those who have gained all sorts of weight and are stuck in Podunk, reaching out to you for those last vestiges of a life? I didn’t think so. Look, I could be proven totally wrong here, but I am not convinced that Facebook is the place to shop. Not for me anyway. Facebook is… Read More »

The Lindsay Firestorm Continues

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLI8rWtU86M_i0&feature=player_embedded Ladies and gentlemen, and hypocrites of all ages. Step right up and peruse these images of Lindsay Lohan. You know you want to. You know you can’t resist looking, then taking the time to make comments that show much you really do care…though your words say otherwise. As we all know, actions speak louder than words. So, just to be clear, Lindsay is not “fugly”, on the contrary. Lindsay is not sad, on the contrary. And no this photo shoot was not a career “mistake”, on the contrary. For whatever reason, Lindsay Lohan is one of the most controversial… Read More »

Here’s a game that we can all play together. It’s pretty easy. I will show you a picture followed by a few statements. You select the answer that best fits the person/people and the situation. Easy and fun! A) Now what are we gonna do? B) Look, we’ve gotten this far, surely some stupid publicity scam will keep us in the public eye. C) All of the above. A) One sex tape, even sex tapes. What’s the difference? B) These boobs are all I have left. C) I should have lied to Perez Hilton, God damn it. D) All of… Read More »

Each season, my lovely friends at Rootstein Mannequins create an amazing exhibition of their new bodies that takes the retail design industry to a whole, new level of fabulousness. The theme of the next show is Pocahontas…Who?!? At least that’s what I am calling it since I went to see Michael and Kevin and the stunning Indian Warrior Princesses. I MEAN…WHAT?!? invites…rather…urges you to take a walk through the Rootstein Gallery when you are bopping around Chelsea. They take such pride and impeccable detail in their work, that I suggest seeing first-hand what can be done with a tremendous amount… Read More »

All the News About Nobodies That’s Fit to Print. This surely has become one of my favorite I Mean What?!? entries. The phenomenon that is “People in the News” has been so watered down, that we are now desensitized to actual news about people that are really interesting. Anyway, I’ve explained The Nobody News countless times. It’s just a fact of life that the fast lane is so crowded with wanna be’s.… Read More »

There are hundreds of events going on in New York City on any particular day. Now, I am not a mathematician, alas, you should see my checkbook, but that means that thousands of events happen every year. Granted, most of these events aren’t events with notables and even less with celebrities, but we can all safely say that there is way to much crap going on that humans are obligated to attend. Agreed? I used to be a social butterfly in the late 70’s and 80’s, and thankfully I got that all out of my system. There is nothing sadder… Read More »

“Menswear should take cues from womenswear, and not just the other way around,” says Muccia Prada in BlackBook. Now, you all know how much I love to trash a good manzie (click to get official meaning). It has been eons since I did a session on that “look”, which confuses many of my readers, while providing many good laughs. “But, Muccia, what items in womenswear can men pull off without looking like big, nelly queens?”, I Mean…What!?! wants to know. Leggings for starters. Leggings have been on trend and a huge best-seller for the past few seasons. But on guys?… Read More »

It’s been a while since The Nobody News appeared on I Mean…What?!? and with the weather in New York City being so uber-dreary, I needed a lift. To all of you newbies, The Nobody News, is news about a bunch of nobodies…that think they are somebodies…and followed by a bunch of nobodies…who also wish they were somebodies. If you do not know what I just said, it pretty much sums up our current media fascination with a pack of annoying individuals. Looking at today’s news reports, it was clear that the Nobody News was aching for a comeback. With that,… Read More »

Cheeks…they are all the rage. Cheeks are the new black. Everyone is getting “the cheeks”. If you don’t have “the cheeks”, then you just don’t have cheeks. The use of facial fillers such as Juvederm, Sculptra, Restylane, Radiesse, and Collagen have become the short answer to the long question, “Why must we age?” New York Magazine did an in-depth report on The New Face, which is the dire attempt to bring your old face back, the face you had when you were young, rather than the tragically obvious face-lift. Face-lifts are sooo last decade. Fillers are what’s happening, and everyone… Read More »

Yesterday was uneventful as far as Manzies go. The women’s collections are in full bloom. Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Charlotte Ronson, William Rast, Rag and Bone, these are the collections with all the heat. That said, there was little if anything interesting going on in menswear. And when I say uninteresting, I don’t lie. I am still trying to figure out why Lacoste does a fashion show. I’d imagine their retailers would buy that in the showroom, and clearly, if they were in the 21st century, with a basic collection like that, they could handle their seasonal order and reorder… Read More »
