Just when you thought it was safe to come out from under the falling dead celebrity fashion collections—I mean where is Zooey Deschanel‘s crap, Katie Homes’ nonsense and Sarah Jessica Parker for Halston—comes the worst bit of fashion news yet. Gossip Girl, that Shakespearean television show is getting its own fashion collection. Yes, this is true. Now we will have to live through the painful process of extensive cross-marketing between retailers and a list of television shows-turned-fashion designers. I cannot wait to see what Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC and Bravo have in store for us. As you may know, the Mad Men collection is currently in-store at Banana Republic, which is probably the saddest thing I heard all year. The Kardashian Kollection is at Sears (E! Entertainment is on it), which is another riveting fact of life. And now with Gossip Girl schmattas in the pipeline, imagine what retarded deals are being cooked up with Sears, Kohl’s, Target and Neiman Marcus. Yes, that’s right, Neiman Marcus is all up on this crap too since their overall business is down. Neiman’s is launching the Gossip Girl line along with Kitson, which you would expect. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, “The end of the world is nigh”, kiddies. Here are a few more horrendous possibilities:
- Mike and Molly Collection – Plus Sized for Him & Her
- Drop Dead Diva Collection – Fancy Plus Sized for Her (Let’s face it, couch potatoes are plus sized.)
- Real Housewives of New Jersey Collection – Tight, Short, Tacky Dresses
- Real Housewives of Orange County Collection – Tight, Short, Tacky Dresses
- The Office Collection – Badly Cut Suits For Men
- American Idol Collection – Western Wear
- America’s Next Top Model Collection – Tight, Short, Tacky Dresses
E me your thoughts on what shows are up for a fashion makeover.
