Couture? Not So Sure.

This Maison Martin Margiela number looks like Phyllis Diller had been run over by a bulldozer.

Spring is in the air. Well…maybe not the weather part but surely the Spring Couture Collections are in full regalia in Paris. Did you ever stop to wonder what you would do if you were a real lady who lunches and had the resources (and the old, fat, rich husband) to be one of those lucky few who can afford to buy couture each season? Ode to the good life. Winters in Gstaad, Christmas in Martinique with Mick Jagger and L’Wren Scott, pied-à-terres in Paris AND New York, villas in Bel-Air AND Lake Como next door to George Clooney. What to wear…what to wear. Surely I would be front row at the Couture Collections in Paris, sitting next to Catherine Deneuve and Tavi Gevinson??? I would start at Christian Dior, make my way to Armani Privé and end the week at Chanel. But here’s my question. Who in the small circle of women actually attend–or buy for that matter–couture from Maison Martin Margiela or Alexandre Vauthier. So, OK, this season Vauthier had a few good dresses but would you buy one? I say no.

This Alexandre Vaulthier has nothing on a good ol' Donna Karan jersey staple.

Come on. Really?

This is Charo, run over by that same bulldozer.

This was Margiela's grand finale, which looks like a sandwich platter wrapping.

And what is better about this Vaulthier that Diane von Furstenberg didn't already do for the past 30 years?

Couture? Not so sure.
