Well, I thought this would as good a time as any to let y’all get to know a bit about my likes and dislikes. Since clearly, you are fully aware of the latter, today I am going to share some of my favorite things. Today’s category are favorite men and women, dead and alive. It’s a collection of collagenous people, each that have impacted me in a most memorable way. If any of these are on your short list, let me know.
Before I give you my short list, I must start by giving props to my sisters Vivian and Rita. This site, I mean…what?!?, is a by-product of our endless three-way phone conversations when we would discuss (ad nauseum) every topic in the world till there was nothing left to talk about…till the next day. It is this connection, humor and like-mindedness that birthed this website. They are hilare. And while I’m at it, I’d like to give a shout out to my mom, a concentration camp survivor, who maintained her sense of humor, which must have sustained her, and passed that torch to the three of us. But now, let’s move onto people you’ve heard of.
FAVORITE DEAD WOMEN
Bette Davis – Because she was the world’s greatest actress, character, style icon, well…just perfection.
Kathrine Hepburn – Equally brilliant, independent, overall ferocious.
Rosa Parks – Who in her own quiet way said “no” loud enough to be heard to this day.
Queen Elizabeth I – Well, come on.
Dorothy Parker – Anyone who said ” If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to”, is on my list. Period.
FAVORITE LIVING WOMEN
Angelina Jolie – Stunning, smart, talented, maternal, altruistic, with Brad Pitt. I mean…what?!?
Marianne Faithfull – A survivor, muse, inspiration, talent, stunning, bright.
Carrie Fisher – Postcards From The Edge…hello. Not even to mention the Princess Leia of it all. She is so funny and honest.
Carla Bruni Sarkozy – Stunning, powerful, Dior-ed out, talented, well-bred…where do I sign.
Doris Day – An icon who turned the volume down on all the hooplah and spends her days taking care of and fighting for animal rights.
FAVORITE DEAD MEN
Clark Gable – Rhett Butler.
Leonardo Da Vinci – Smart as a whip, the world’s first multi-tasker.
Cary Grant – Period.
Sigmund Freud – Since we share the same birthday and he made sense out of all our craziness.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Starts my every day, soothes this wild beast.
FAVORITE LIVING MEN
Mel Brooks – The Producers (the original movie), Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
Brad Pitt – Same reasons as Angelina.
Bill Clinton – 100 reasons…one of them is Hillary.
Martin Scorsese – I love him for how much he loves movies.
Al Gore – ‘Cause though he never actually invented the internet, he was a huge advocate and if it wasn’t for him…chances are, we would not be introduced.
You just reminded me that I do not have too many favorite men. I wonder why? I must analyze that.
Angelina rocks. No apologies, no flies on her. She lives her life boldly and bravely. and honestly. love that.
and Carrie, well, what can I say? she literally inspires me every day. Perhaps I need a 'What Would Carrie Do' bracelet.
