As the Paris Couture Shows march on, there is still a continued need for a discerning eye (mine) to help edit some of the looks going down the runways. Overall, the shows are great. And with the ever shifting economy, and the need to get young-uns into these ensembles, I am begging for the opportunity to work alongside everyone to stick in my two cents before showtime. Granted, that may never come to pass, but surely it would be beneficial to all.

Valentino showed an extremely youthful collection, think Twilight Couture. This look could have easily been cut.

As could this sister look. Twin fotz.

Whatever is under that bird cage looks great. And the cage itself...in theory...is fantastic for the runway. But just try sitting in a cab with this layer enroute to seeing Twilight Eclipse.

Jean Paul Gaultier had endless chic looks, this one however, is neither here not there.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night.

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl.

This look is very Alexandre Vauthier.

Maison Martin Margiela showed this outfit...because...

There were eleven looks. Two I could can. Leaving us with...fotz.

So, this is couture? Maison Rabih Kayrouz thinks so.

Whatevs...
Haha. I still put this kind of experimentation a cut above the same boring pieces that stream into RTW without a peep of complaint from the industry, but I think you're right about the editing. Couture would benefit if it stopped trying so hard to recycle artsy sensibilities and just went straight for the heart of innovation & craft.
Gorgeous!!
