Several weeks ago, I noticed a trend in men’s fashion that goes beyond metrosexual (a.k.a. frigid bi-curious), which was screaming out for its own moniker…hence…Man-zies. Man-zies are categorically “quirky”, which in men, is never a good thing. From the “quirky man-hat” to overly printed shorts to neckie scarves worn for no reason, like in warm weather, the Man-zie can be seen everywhere these days. It’s the evolution of the men’s fashion industry, I guess, but somehow, even on the runway, it doesn’t work. As the Milan Men’s Shows are in full bloom, one couldn’t help noticing that there was a little Man-zie in every collection. Granted, the Italians are much butcher than Amercian designers, I’ll give them that. But I did manage to cull out of each collection, that touch of Man-zie. Stay tuned for when we institute the I MEAN…WHAT?!? MAN-ZIE AWARDS later this year.
Bottega Veneta is an overall fabulous collection, but this ensemble is so Manzie with it's Balenciaga shoulders and that Gina Lollobrigida lipstick shade of orange.
Aquascutum's quirky ensemble even makes this mannequin look like a Manzie. The print and the shape of that jacket, yikes.
Burberry Prorsum was great too, but this Bat Girl number was hard to resist labeling Manzie.
Costume National Homme did not hit a homme run with this unflattering silhouette. It's Manzie meets lesbian almost.
OK, you tell me, where does a Manzie wear this Dolce and Cabbana short set to? Huh?
Even Ermengildo Zegna couldn't resist adding the "quirky man-hat" to his otherwise tasteful collection. It's like a modified urban sombrero, no?
Gianfranco Ferre would have never let this go down his runway. This Manzie suit-let features an A-line blazer with culottes. Oy.
An otherwise butch collection, Armani sees that the Manzie is a growing concern, hence this Manzie grouping.
Would you really see anyone but a Manzie dressed like this? Come on Gucci, the purse, matching shoes...girl.
Vivienne Westwood showed this special outfit for the blind Manzie.
But Jil Sander wins the Manzie collection to date. It's designed for the Hermaphrodite Manzie.
As well as Eunuchs.
And even the pre-op tranny day wear collection.
I need to know. Am I a manzie?? Am I? How can i get one?
May I know the name of the model for Burberry? The "Bat Costume"..
Thanks!
