As an ex-fatty, I have mixed feelings about the recent hubbub surrounding the new fat covergirls of Sports Illustrated. I get it, but maybe they could have worn a one piece bathing suit for that cover shoot. … Read More »

In what surely was Pia Toscano‘s luckiest day, last Thursday the stunning songbird got booted off American Idol to a shocked studio audience and a sobbing Jennifer Lopez. But sob not, because Jimmy Iovine signed her for a record deal as soon as the show ended. Here’s the weird bit, on Wednesday night, I had a feeling that Pia was going to get booted off and through all 10 seasons of Idol, I have never called to vote for anyone. Not even Fantasia Barrino. But I was compelled to call that 866 Pia number like a dozen times. When I… Read More »

All I can say is that the new Vogue Paris cover featuring model, Giselle Bundchen, is the best news. They tend to anyway, but with Emmanuelle Alt at the helm of the pub since the abrupt resignation from Carine Roitfeld, I am glad that some things don’t change. The worst part of most American fashion magazine are their covers. Excuse me, Jennifer Hudson is a lovely girl and Jennifer Aniston is best served on the small screen, but please, leave most Jennifers off the covers of Vogue and that includes Jennifer Garner, who I think is stunning. What can I… Read More »

Congratulations Alicia Keys.  Not only are you multi-talented, beautiful, a mom, a mentor, a philanthropist, a superstar, a wife, a sista soldja, phew, but your campaign to raise One Million Dollars, launched on World AIDS Day to benefit Keep A Child Alive has been achieved. You can now rest easy that you have more than carved your way into heaven. The campaign was based on killing off the digital lives of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Ryan Seacrest, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Khloe Kardashian, Lenny Kravitz, Jay Sean, Swizz Beatz, Serena Williams, Elijah Wood, Janelle Monae, Nikki… Read More »

Oh, please with this controversy about the new Elle magazine cover photo featuring Gabourey Sidibe. Yikes. First of all, Essence magazine must be kicking themselves for not putting her on their cover first. Say what you want, she ain’t pretty enough to be on the cover of a fashion / beauty magazine. And I am dying to see how many more issues will sell (such a poet) with Gabourey gracing (for lack of a better word) the cover. W magazine did something like this a couple of years ago by featuring Ugly Betty‘s America Ferrera when that show was popular.… Read More »

There’s something fantastic about Adam Lambert and Susan Boyle’s second place finishes on American Idol and Britian’s Got Talent (respectively). What, you say? How about a clear message that “winning is not everything”. What a great statement for all to see and hear especially when Adam and Susan will undoubtedly have fantastic careers moving forward. Yeah, yeah, Kris Allen is adorable and the Diversity dance troupe from last night’s Brit win are extremely talented…but…yoo hoo…snore. As a confirmed slacker, seeing people not win and succeeding anyway makes my heart go pitter-patter. It reminds me that not being a goodie-goodie (like… Read More »
