We can all agree now that it was Oprah who single-handedly handed Barak Obama the election. Yeah sure, he ran the best campaign ever, and no doubt, he struck a chord in the heart and minds of the usually disenfranchised youth and black voters, hence handily getting him elected. But at the end of the day, it was our O that paved the way. Now the president (O) is pulling an Oprah (O) causing all sorts of confusion. Who is O now? Isn’t O, O? Will the real O please stand up? Has O co-oped O’s moniker? Let’s face it, O is so O in the way he’s captured the hearts and minds of the public. But now I am thoroughly confused.
The latest O gesture, and now I bet you don’t even know who I am talking about, is that he, O, is doing what she, O, did by handing out cars to evereyone in her audience. Only this time O (the new O), is handing out 17,600 US made hybrid cars to all his government officials. Do we even have that many? No doubt the two O’s compared notes on how to achieve great ratings. “Do what I did O, when Ellen started stealing my market share, I gave out a bunch of cars and had my best ratings in years.” So, with the car companies being hounded by angry mobs (a.k.a the press and Republicans), O needed to do something to improve their ratings after shnorring zillions of taxpayer dollars. After Lady Diana died, I wondered. “Who do we have in America that would garner that much outpouring of grief and media attention if they died?” And the only person I could think of was Oprah. But now? No question O would take that top spot. O squared.
