People We Lerve

How does one maintain relevance in an industry obsessed with youth? Where “one day you are in and ze next day you are out”? In this town you need to know a Roitfeld or be a fashion blogger worthy of a front row seat. As a veteran of the fashion industry, I was challenged with this conundrum. So I revised my business model, focused on social media, developed my own blog, I Mean…What?!? and in turn became part of an extensive network of online media outlets. The viral landscape is hungry for original content so I began to develop fashion… Read More »

The news that Lindsay Lohan dropped her last name to go by her first name only, is a move that I thoroughly support. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Abe, and I, too, go by my first name only. My business card says Abe and my company’s name is Abe. In fact, I don’t think anyone knows my last name. I sure don’t. It’s sort of like Just Jack, in that I am a gay man, but unlike Just Jack, I am a real person, which makes me more like Cher and Madonna. Since childhood, I have gone… Read More »

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD2LRROpph0 Last week, I posted the Rebecca Black video of the song Friday and sadly, my server went down. Sadly, I had to take down that post. Since then, her hit song has received over 45,ooo,ooo, yes that is 45 million(!) views and fans including Lady Gaga and Simon Cowell. Say what you want about the song, many people have been goofing on her and trashing the song, but if you ask me, there’s a hint of Katy Perry in them there hills. Like Cowell, my sentiments are, anyone that can out do Susan Boyle is fierce. Period.… Read More »

After watching all the Elizabeth Taylor coverage, I thought about my cute Elizabeth Taylor moment that I was lucky enough to have. It was ten years ago at Carrie Fisher‘s house. Carrie is known in the Hollywood inner circles for having the best dinner parties, and her annual Carrie Fisher & Penny Marshall joint birthday parties were THE party of the year in those days. Having worked for Carrie in the 90’s, I would coordinate them, and unlike any other celebrity party, these were so hush hush, no one besides the top 200 Hollywood A-Listers were ever invited. Invitations would… Read More »

It is a sad day indeed. My favorite Hollywood icon, Elizabeth Taylor, passed away this morning. My sister and I were talking about how amazing she was and that no one comes close to her stature and grace. She had an incredible impact on our society though her life’s work of spearheading and supporting the HIV/AIDS community. That, coupled with her amazing talent and divine beauty, well, there’s no one like her in Hollywood anymore. It is truly the end of Hollywood glamour. Yeah, you can mention Angelina Jolie…ish. But as the sun sets on Dame Elizabeth Taylor, please take… Read More »

As an aging beauty, well, aging anyway, I am forever on the prowl for amazing moisturizers. My mother taught me at an early age to slather on the moisturizer. She was a Ponds Cold Cream and Helena Rubinstein addict. I guess my tendency for addictions comes from her. I have spent the last 30 years going from one moisturizer to another, since Helena Rubinstein went out of business, and left to my own devices. Until last year, I had been using Queen Helene Grape Seed Extract Skin Firming Cream, until that was taken off the market. I snapped up every… Read More »

As a member of the internet elite, well, in my own mind anyway, I wanted to give a shout out to Thrillist, the men’s website that has quickly become a leader in how blogs evolve into a sophisticated, revenue generating, content driven, value added groovy thing. Adam Rich started the venture in 2005 and has been at the forefront of the ever changing internet. People like Adam and Arianna Huffington are inspirational and honorable for taking their passion for sitting at their computer so successful. Read today’s piece in The New York Times Business and in my case weep. Kidding,… Read More »

On the eve of the Oscars (Erev Oscars in Hebrew), I wanted to take this moment to thank my agent, God, my family, Carrie Fisher and since I am single, I won’t be making the unforgivable faux pas of not thanking my significant other. Since everything is all about the Oscars this weekend, I wanted to thank my friend Marc Friedland, an award winning (well, maybe not an Oscar, but an award, nonetheless) graphic designer who was enrolled by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to re-do the famous “The Envelope Please” envelopes. So, here they are. So… Read More »
