Kate Moss To Design For Longchamps
You probably think that I am going to do into a tirade about yet another celebrity-turned fashion designer, namely Kate Moss, which was just reported in Women’s Wear Daily. This is the next gig for the uber-supermodel. But surprise! Kate Moss is a style icon and she can do whatever she wants, especially design clothes. Or serve as a Design Director. I mean…who doesn’t want to look like Kate? Style and otherwise. Kate Moss is one of the few supermodels that has sustained her career in spite of ugly rumors, ugly truths and ugly boyfriends. But let me get back… Read More »
Stupid Ads From Diesel
No, I am not being mean about the new Diesel ad campaign. Their new campaign slogan is Be Stupid. How stupid is that?!? Growing up, I used to hate that word. It was one of those words that really cut through me…like fatso. I don’t know why it affected me so much…because one thing I am not, is stupid. But it just did. Seeing these ads made me think of how stupid the ad campaign is. Let’s look at the first image, where the Diesel jeans wearer is killed by an elephant. Gee, that’s aspirational. This guy is so stupid… Read More »
Anna Wintour On A Subway?!?
Today’s Page Six item in the New York Post says that the new Vogue Publisher, Susan Plagmann is cracking down on expenses for the magazine and that, “Senior people have been told they must take more subways to meetings as opposed to Town Cars to save money.” Well, shut my mouth. Frankly, I don’t care what she says, but Anna Wintour (my hero) should be allowed to keep her Town Car to go hither-and-to as far as I am concerned. I am happy to start the Anna Wintour Town Car Fund and hereby make my first donation of $100, to… Read More »
Somebody please help me understand this event that recently happened in West Hollywood called Heel Hate, One Stiletto At A Time, which apparently was a benefit for the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Now, I applaud anyone who wants to help draw attention to the critical work of the foundation whose “Erase Hate” Initiative is at the heart of the organization’s work and mission. Judy and Dennis Shepard created the Foundation shortly after Matthew’s death, with a goal to “Replace Hate with Understanding, Compassion & Acceptance”. They are amazing, and I am proud to support their work. So, just work with me… Read More »
St. John Bags Angelina Jolie
St. John, is that brand of women’s clothing that for years used Kelly Gray, the daughter of the company’s owners (nepotism much?) in their advertising. One day, they finally realized that Kelly was a total yikes for the brand, so they hired Angelina Jolie in an effort to reposition the brand…which worked-ish. Now, the big news is that St. John has bagged Angelina Jolie and replaced her with Karen Elson. See below. “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blonds and cleanse the palette,” said CEO Glenn McMahon. So I guess Karen Elson, iconic… Read More »
Let it be said that I called the Sarah Palin getting a Fox News deal early this summer. I wrote: “You can ask my sister Vivian, as we were watching the freakishly neurotic and overly audible Sarah Palin resignation speech on CNN, though we were shocked that they broke away from the Michael Jackson Minutia Report, that I immediately turned to her and quoted Deep Throat and said, “Follow the money”. Sarah Palin, the smart but insane sexist windbag, will write her book, which will read like a diary from an eight grader, do a massive book tour throughout the… Read More »
Hollywood Walk of Fame-ish
Here’s proof that all you need is some dough in order to get a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. What’s next? Grauman’s Chinese Theater letting Kim Kardashian plant her tootsies in their precious cement? Call me old fashioned, but when I think of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I think of Greta Garbo, Jean Harlow, Clark Gable and Fred Astaire…to name a few. Not Howie Mandel, or P Diddy, or does it say Sean Combs…whatever, Buzz Aldrin (really? why, cause he lives in LA?), or Ryan Seacrest. Can we call that a stretch…please? It all proves my point… Read More »

To All You Lingerie Divas Out There
Yesterday, I mentioned that Karl Lagerfeld thinks that only thin people can pull off the Underwear as Outerwear Look that has seized every collection. I received a note from one of my lovely I Mean…What?!? readers. She goes by the name Marketing, and she referred to an old story I did, Underwear is the New Outerwear. Marketing agrees with Karl Lagerfeld and also says, “Many stylish women are wearing more corsets, matched with skirts or pants. Sometimes they even wear one over a simple blouse.” Really? Naturally I was intrigued. My new, dear best friend, Marketing was kind enough to… Read More »
Recently, January Jones was photographed in GQ flaunting her tits a la Maxim. As the magazine industry continues to spiral downward, GQ, whose readers I guess want to see boobs, has been featuring actresses with that come hither approach to photography a.k.a. Playboy. Maxim is the NASCAR version of Playboy, and the more attention the women get who grace the pages, the more little Hollywood starlets want to be featured there. Case in point, child actress Amanda Bynes, who took this Maxim moment to break out from her goody-two-shoes perception and show the world her parts. I call this Maxim… Read More »
