Many of you must know by now that I have coined the phrase “fotz”. There ‘s many applications to this term. But, what, do you ask, is FOTZ? Etymology: What started out as a sarcastic reference to something that is or someone that “thinks” they are fascinating. So, it went from fascinating to fotzinating to fotzy balloons to fotzy to the currently, most used…fotz. Here are a few good examples.
- Bing is fotz.
- What Madonna wore to the Costume Institute Gala was fotz.
- George Bush was fotz…still probably is.
- Most Republicans are fotz.
- Susan Boyle’s first makeover was fotz.
- People who believe their own press are extremely fotz.
- Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin are uber-fotz.
The only reason I am doing this is because today’s article in The New York Times Style section is all about slang. Anyone who knows me will attest that I have established my own language or Abe-isms. As I am working on the great American novel (like most of you) there will be a glossary of Abe-isms. Today I tried to submit “fotz” to the urban Dictionary and was rejected. That now has become a high compliment once I found out that anyone can accept or reject terms. It reminds me of the Woody Allen quote, “I would never want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member.” In the meanwhile, since pictures speak a 1,000 words, here are a few images from entries past that I deemed…fotz.

fotz really makes sense.. 🙂
you know, fotz actually exsists as a word and is VERY commonly used. It's a slang word for vagina in luxemburgish. It's not a joke, and yes, luxemburgish exsists!
Thank you so much for that amazing news. This makes the term that much more universal and hilarious. You are my hero. All the best from New Yorkish.
FOTZE actually is a german vulgarism, and it is the equivalent of CUNT …
In certain German/Austruian/Swiss and whatnot regions it also stand for "mouth" or "snout" – so for example in Bavaria, Germany, they say FOTZENHOBEL to a mouth organ or FOTZENSPANGLER for an orthodontist (Spangler is panel-beater/plumber or tin-smith). There is no relation to the Cunt-meaning here.
And to slap someone in the face means to FOTZ someone here…
So…if you ever come to Germany and tell people they're fotz, they might take it the wrong way. Just saying.
Cool blog 😀
Hi Ina,
You are now the second person to tell me this and I think it is hilarious. The other person is from Luxembourg and that same rule applies. Glad you like my blog…keep reading and trasnlating where possible.
Peace..

…and while at translating from German: Gurko would be Cucumbo. Good luck with "fotz"! I hope the word makes it into common language!

I can not believe just how much snowfall has fallen since this past night. Our 10 year old having his 1st trip towards snow country around this winter season. He's getting his entire money's good worth. The actual snow in our own yard is definitely deeper than he happens to be in height, which means that he's going to really enjoy the idea!

, “I would never want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member.” is actually a groucho marx quote. A for effort.
Fotz means CUNT (Vagina, slang term) in German ! I think you don´t want to use that word in english, especially as you want to say s.th. else with the word "FOTZ".. uhh. its so disgusting the word in german…..
Hi Peter,
When I created that word I had no idea that it had that meaning. One day however, I got an email from a girl from Luxembourg, who said the same thing. The funny story there was that she came upon my website because she happened to be googling the word “fotz” rather than studying for her final exams.
Anyhoo, many words have double meanings. Mine specifically does not refer to the C word.
Have a great day…
