Spring is in the air. Well…maybe not the weather part but surely the Spring Couture Collections are in full regalia in Paris. Did you ever stop to wonder what you would do if you were a real lady who lunches and had the resources (and the old, fat, rich husband) to be one of those lucky few who can afford to buy couture each season? Ode to the good life. Winters in Gstaad, Christmas in Martinique with Mick Jagger and L’Wren Scott, pied-à-terres in Paris AND New York, villas in Bel-Air AND Lake Como next door to George Clooney. What… Read More »

Fresh from Paris and Milan, we have the Manzie Report featuring the latest trends, mistakes and mishaps for Fall 2011. The over-arching story for men is luxe, sophisticated, elegance. There were boxier shapes and shorter skorts. No, I am not kidding. Since Marc Jacobs wears nothing but kilts, Parisian menswear designers took that look to the next level and hiked up the length of skorts for men. Let’s face it, the kilt length is not all that flattering, and men’s legs are just as lovely to look at as women’s…especially when they are long, lean and muscular. Collections from Hermes,… Read More »

Sometimes I wish my body type was different so I could wear styles of clothing that would not me look fat or short. Trust me, if given the choice, I would happily look like a lanky, pale, unfriendly, male model, whose greatest achievement is walking down a straight and narrow path. If you think I like being restricted to jeans, sneakers and V-neck sweaters…think again. The only person who gets my sense of style is Simon Cowell. Need I say more? As an aficionado of fashion, I love wondering what it would be like to wear a Rick Owens skirt,… Read More »

Say what you want, but I am convinced that the reason The Social Network is winning Best Film at all the awards shows, as it will for the Oscars, is because Hollywood is indirectly putting their hand out to Mark Zuckerberg for future film financing. The subliminal message is: “We’ll help you rebuild your character since the movie shows what an unlikeable guy you really are, but it will cost you.” The Social Network is definitely a good movie, but Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg is such a nudnik, that it made it hard for me to fall in love with… Read More »

Clearly I am not a Jennifer Aniston fan. Not since last century when Friends was one of my favorite shows and I pined for “The Rachel” hairdo. I still do, but that is because I have no hair so I’ll take anything. No, after observing Jennifer in certain situations (lush) when I lived in Los Angeles, it took the wind of out the sail of loving Jennifer Aniston. Besides, the show was canceled by then and she changed up her hair. When she married Brad Pitt, I wondered if this was a Hollywood gay cover-up because they had the same… Read More »

You gotta love Thom Browne. No matter how butch men want to be this season, he marches to his own beat and presents a collection for the man who knows that Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche. Nor do they wear the Moncler Gamme Bleu. Each season, I look forward to Thom Brwone’s collection for Moncler. He has decided that in order for queens to buy those shiny Moncler puffy crop jackets, they have to see a whole collection of nelly frocks to ski by first. The Fall ’11 collection did not disappoint. Frocks for days.… Read More »

No one is more excited about this week than moi. The Men’s Fall Collections are launching in Milan and New York City. For the next few days, I will feature my seasonal Manzie Report, only this year, in an effort to tone back the rhetoric and vitriol I will report on the Best of as well as the Worst of, just to show you how politically correct I can be…ish. Over the past few seasons, men have gone from being enormously effeminate to overly butch and this season, I am predicting that the the two worlds will collide. At ENKNYC,… Read More »

That iconic song that Burt Parks made famous, Here She Is, Miss America will always stay in my memory. There are songs that do that like Over The Rainbow, and It’s A Hard Knock Life from Annie. Songs that directly correlate to young girls. Last night, Miss Nebraska Teresa Scanlan, became the youngest winner in 90 years to snag the crown. Teresa is seventeen years old and from the looks of this picture, she could easily be her mother.… Read More »

There is a new beauty on the horizon and G-STAR’s got her. Gemma Arterton, who has starred in such blockbusters as Prince of Persia, Quantum of Solace and Clash of the Titans (that’s a lot of of’s) will replace Liv Tyler as the campaign model for the Spring/Summer G-Star Raw campaign. I mean…how beautiful is she? My friend toured with Gemma on the Prince of Persia junket and said she is so lovely, down to Earth and sweet. That’s especially nice to hear when you know how certain “actress-types” can act like swans get when they get a whiff of… Read More »
