Do not go gently into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. So wrote Dylan Thomas as he watched his father grow frail with age. Not sure why, but I thought of this poem while reading the lead story in the New York Post about Madonna’s boy-toy…do I hate that expression…Jesus Luz. For there to be a lead story on Madonna’s poontang du jour, we must follow the bouncing publicist. This just means that Madge…a nickname I don’t really like…must have let out the Liz Rosenberg dogs to lead Jesus into the good light since public opinion is shifting from “Madonna can do no wrong” to “enough already with Madonna and her rabbit ears”. Now that Madonna is moving to New York City full-time, she wants to establish her position in society, like a modern day Brooke Astor. Brooke (prior to her horrendous posthumous PR debacle) was a cherished New York institution and Madonna most likely wants to emulate something on that level. But the issue is she has to do something that reeks of dignity. Sure any charity event, store opening, fashion show, well, you name it, would want Madonna in attendance. Since she has been ridiculed by the press at the Costume Institute Gala, this is not what the Madge-ster wants. I feel that there is something else going on under the surface.
So, first things first. Let’s get Jesus some good press. Jesus is a Kabbalahist and was prior to meeting Madonna. “Pappa can you hear me?” And then they met and fell in love. “Memories, light the corners of my mind.” And now he is friends with Marc Jacobs and starring in the upcoming Dolce and Cabbana ad campaign. “Jesus take the Wheel.” Look, I hate to sound like some old jaded queen, but as the Dylan Thomas poem so profoundly says, Do not go gently into that good night. And Madonna will not do that. And good for her! But somehow, I wish she would understand the notion of “happily ever after”. She found her man (again), they are in love (so they say) its a rabbinical match (oy) so go, sit by a fire, read, write, even act (Madonna was so great in Desperately Seeking Susan, I’m sure she has another one in her) but leave the Baby Jesus at home along with the other kids.
Those boat look great, I love to go to the sea in a boat thanks for the article.
