What’s all the fuss about Snooki being cast, I mean, booked at Rutgers University? It should come as a surprise to no one that we as a society have gone so far off the mark of excellence, that a Snooki appearance actually makes total sense. Frankly, I am surprised that she will not be the commencement speaker, but the fact remains that Snooki is part of a Rutgers University Programming Association sponsored comedy show. Why anyone is bringing Toni Morrison into this conversation is preposterous. Toni is sooo not funny. Granted, it is shocking that $32,000 is what Snooki gets… Read More »
NEWS UPDATE (April Fools, no joke) – Before you read yesterday’s story, the big story today is that Donald Trump will get a “morning chat” kind of spot on Fox News, during Fox and Friends. Bold, brash and never bashful is his slogan. Hot. He will appear every Monday, kind of like a Monday morning quarterback. (MARCH 31, 2011) – Anyone that cannot see that Donald Trump is taking the birther stance in regards to Barack Obama does not understand the politics of the Nielsen Ratings. Donald Trump has no interest whatsoever in becoming President of the United States. The… Read More »
With the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, there is a hole in the celebrity fragrance market that Justin Bieber can fill with the launch of his new product line, Justin Bieber Scented Dog Tags. Move over Jennifer Aniston with your Lolavie nonsense because The Biebs is here with a fresh take on how to smell. The celebrity fragrance and celebrity designer industry is alive and kicking and Justin’s dog tags are the best of both worlds. It is a fragrance that will spice up your wardrobe, while spicing up the way you smell. It is borderline brilliant in a kitsch kind… Read More »
Obsessed With Jean Harlow
Jean Harlow has been the Star of the Month on my favorite television channel TCM. I have been a long-time fan of Dinner At Eight, which put the actress over the top in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Watching these Harlow films has been a visual delight, between the sets and the gowns by Adrain, but besides that, it is the first time that I got to see how amazing Jean Harlow was as an actress. Granted, the penciled in eyebrows are somewhat distracting or disturbing even, but MGM was keen on shaving off eye brows in order to re-frame… Read More »
How does one maintain relevance in an industry obsessed with youth? Where “one day you are in and ze next day you are out”? In this town you need to know a Roitfeld or be a fashion blogger worthy of a front row seat. As a veteran of the fashion industry, I was challenged with this conundrum. So I revised my business model, focused on social media, developed my own blog, I Mean…What?!? and in turn became part of an extensive network of online media outlets. The viral landscape is hungry for original content so I began to develop fashion… Read More »
The gals at Blink PR sent out this fierce (oy) invitation to an event or whatever this is that I wanted to share with you. And this is verbatim. Judith Barnes is one of the most eclectic, influential and inspirational couture fashion designers in Miami. Thanks to Twitter, Marc Jacobs now knows the downside of Social Media. Some intern had the quintessential bad first job experience and Twittered about how horrendous Robert Duffy is. Look, I am sure he is no picnic, but who is? It sounds like this boy, fresh out of college and being mollycoddled his whole life, could not figure out how to deal with the real world. There are studies after studies showing that the Baby Boomer parents have raised a generation of the neediest, spoon-fed, car-pooled tangerines. When kids get into the work force, they are overwhelmed for not being… Read More »
The World According To Tom Ford
Tom Ford, that handsome renaissance man, went on record with a few of the by-laws that make up The Tom Ford Doctrine. Jefferson Hack interviewed him for AnOther Man about being a gentlemen. Let’s just call it the modern day Gentleman’s Agreement. I must say, we do see eye to eye on most things. He believes that: You should be the best that you can be. Check. (I took that suggestion from the Army ad song.) Gentlemen should work. (Check. Even if I had a Sugar Daddy, I would continue with I Mean…What?!?) Manners are very important such as opening… Read More »
Madonna’s Malawi Scam
Having worked in fundraising for wonderful charities, it is with a heavy heart to learn about the horrendous scam circling Madonna‘s now ill-conceived school for girls in Malawi. I say ill-conceived because if this project was properly structured, with vigorous oversight, then 3.8 million dollars would not have vanished. Who is to blame? Surely the Executive Director, Philippe van den Bossche, who became involved with Madonna’s trainer, Tracy Anderson, in the middle of the project. Now it makes sense why Madonna fired her “celebrity trainer ass“. Now, someone tell me how a 15 million dollar project allows for a 3.8… Read More »
A while back I wrote a piece about Mistresses Anonymous, the organization started by Sarah Symonds of the Gordon Ramsey indiscretion. Seems like all the women in the boat of having had an affair with a celebrity married man, come out swinging vis-a-vis the media. At least Sarah chose to use her position for good by starting Mistresses Anonymous, clearly an honorable thing to do. She has also become the go-to bloviator for every current infidelity plaguing our airwaves from Tiger Woods to Jesse James. While Sarah is out stumping for the Elin Nordegren, Sandra Bullocks and Elizabeth Edwards of… Read More »
