Who Gives A Shit?

Stylophane? I beg your pardon? Is that a word, a term, a website, a gauge, a ridiculous tool to jack off with? The answer is all of the above. Now that Social Media and the many Social Media Climbers who think  they know-it-all have become marketing experts, (are sext-perts next?) starting with the Social Media Expert himself Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook is now touting its useful digital marketing tool Stylophane, which tracks the Facebook friends (for lack of a better term) who are engaged with your brand. Facebook…brand…engaged…I am cringing but must go on. Women’s Wear Daily reported today that Kat… Read More »

Who will win?

There are more eCommerce websites (e-Tail is the new term) than one can conceivably paw through in a lifetime. What started out as a cute idea for couch potatoes has mushroomed into the Cyber Monday leaving Black Friday in the dust.… Read More »

There' a theory for everything.

What started out as pure innocent fun–rating chicks on college campuses–has mushroom-clouded into a serious business or more accurately, a massive, mishmash of mass-marketing mush. Sprinkle that with a plethora of celebrities spewing pearls of their newly acquired wisdom leaves us with a mosh-pit of “visual white noise”. Our in-boxes are stuffed with promotional opportunities, must-haves, pictures of C-List celebrities wearing Designer X on a red carpet, and news flashes that feature nothing new.… Read More »

paris

While we Americans were chomping on barbeque, watermelon and “oohing” and “aahing” over the 4th of July fireworks, Paris was not sizzling as the Fall Couture Shows got under way. There is nothing sadder than looking through the images of Christian Dior, the one show that I waited for with bated breath each season, knowing that John Galliano would not disappoint. I even looked forward to what kind of drag he would sport at the end of the show. There was nothing of the sort for Fall. Or nothing of the short for fall. Fall short…get it? Surely the reviews… Read More »

The secret is out: Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen did the wedding dress for Kate Middleton…aka Princess Catherine aka Duchess of Cambridge. But the dress is remarkably simple considering it was from the designer who is single-handedly saving the McQueen legacy. She does look stunning. While Facbooking with Alexander Jenkins (Miss J) this morning, he noted (no, not noted as in noted fashion photographer) but noted that the dress is very Princess Grace and added, “Well done Sarah and the House of McQueen. Absolutely simple and gorgeous.” NOTE TO BRIDEZILLAS: See how demure and understated Kate is? Well, take note.… Read More »

I am an avid black wearer. No matter what color is on trend, or whatever fashion editors say is the new black, I wear black. Last season I really started grooving on grey, and by the looks of things, grey is not only the new grey, but it becoming a major staple many people’s wardrobes, surely mine. Yesterday, Mensweek (WWD) did a Vegas preview of Fall ’11, much of which was grey. Fortunately two of the designers included in the piece were clients of mine, MNRKY and Scott James. These two upstart collections are trying to find their niche in… Read More »

“Like sands through the hourglass…so are the Days of Our Lives.” Truer words have ne’er been spoken and they also apply to the fashion industry. I mean…who doesn’t squeeze their sorry ass into a tight fitting pair of jeans, leggings or jeggings these days in the hopes of feeling as thin as the models that sashay down the runways. Maybe my comparison is a stretch (as in Spandex). Mercedes Benz Fashion Week kicks off today and someone, somewhere is squeezing into their DLs, throwing on their tight, fitted, cropped jacket with gobs of accessories, readying to make an entrance at… Read More »

Yes, yes, I know, I know, everyone loves Courtney Love and follows her every fashion move on her website, What Courtney Wore Today. Poor babies. If she is your touchstone, yikes…you need a shrink, too. Why she wore a gown to the WWD 100 Year Anniversary is proof that her koo-koo is for Cocoa Puffs. And the article in Eric Wilson‘s piece in The New York Times proves I am as right as rain. Between that article and having read endless psychotic ranting text messages first hand confiirms just how much of a nut bag she is. This is who… Read More »

gap, abe-gurko, http://imeanwhat.com

You gotta love the Gap. Well, maybe not enough to buy anything for yourself, unless you are in a pinch, or in a mall while visiting your family. But for the way the Gap treats themselves like a serious fashion collection. The Gap showed their Spring ’11 looks in a bunker somewhere in London…très hip…and sure enough, WWD, Vogue and style.com were there to review it, like it was something other than the Gap. Granted, they have a great designer, Patrick Robinson. And surely, if he and a slew of assistants are putting together forty some odd looks, they will… Read More »

Here we go again….yet, another celebrity-turned-stink. This time, Bruce Willis is the man of the hour. Yup, because I know how much you have wanted to smell like Bruce Willis since his Moonlighting days. I personally wanted to smell like him when he was in Death Becomes Her, with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Speaking of which, these gals would NEVER sign on to become a fragrance. Back to Bruce. The Bruce Willis Collection includes an eau de parfum, hair and body wash, deodorant spray and after shave balm. HAIR?!? Have they seen him in the past 20 years? This… Read More »
