Not winning American Idol was the best thing that could have happened to Adam Lambert. When the little foof Kris Allen won and had to start singing that incredibly horrible song by Kara (fierce abs) DioGuardi, the future was clear for Adam. Kris has to make all the traditional AI moves and Adam is going to saunter into a recording studio and do what he wants as an artist. The AI texting public is not who will ultimately make Adam a star. It’s his vision and extreme talent that will find him a massive worldwide, loyal following. Why? Rock-n-Roll Rules.
Granted, the duet between Kris and Keith Urban was amazing, so Kris is best served to do that kind of music (vis-a-vis Carrie Underwood) to salvage a career. He better have that lined up especially if he does has to record that horrible mountain song No Boundaries. And if he does that…we are looking at a vanilla artist, a Christian following and everyone lives happily ever after.
Why? Adam is saved from the doldrums of AI-hood. Sure, the tour, but he can reaffirm plenty of his own fans on the road. Christians watch more Fox TV. Christians buy more Fords. Christians drink more Coke. Christians download more iTunes.
So, for all you Adam-ites (my sister Vivian and her daughter Jordana) take heart. Your boy won. Because it is what happens in the end that matters. Besides, rumor has it that Adam will get the cover of Rolling Stone, not Kris.
