Who Gives A Shit?

Stylophane? I beg your pardon? Is that a word, a term, a website, a gauge, a ridiculous tool to jack off with? The answer is all of the above. Now that Social Media and the many Social Media Climbers who think  they know-it-all have become marketing experts, (are sext-perts next?) starting with the Social Media Expert himself Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook is now touting its useful digital marketing tool Stylophane, which tracks the Facebook friends (for lack of a better term) who are engaged with your brand. Facebook…brand…engaged…I am cringing but must go on. Women’s Wear Daily reported today that Kat… Read More »

Learn How To Twerk

Twerk. It’s a dance, not an illegal action worth crucifying over. Remember (you oldies) when that dance The Jerk was first introduced to the youth culture or The Twist by Chubby Checker? Ahhh, the 1960’s. Now that was a groovy time. Parents and other fuddy duddies were horrified from the way kids were gyrating on the dance floor. So now we have a new dance, The Twerk or Twerking. It seems like not only fuddy dutties are freaking out about this but idiotic, uptight people of all ages. Miley Cyrus was just ripped a new asshole for Twerking at the… Read More »

There' a theory for everything.

What started out as pure innocent fun–rating chicks on college campuses–has mushroom-clouded into a serious business or more accurately, a massive, mishmash of mass-marketing mush. Sprinkle that with a plethora of celebrities spewing pearls of their newly acquired wisdom leaves us with a mosh-pit of “visual white noise”. Our in-boxes are stuffed with promotional opportunities, must-haves, pictures of C-List celebrities wearing Designer X on a red carpet, and news flashes that feature nothing new.… Read More »

Enough alreaday.

OK, so I admit to loving Facebook. However, I question reconnecting with some of the people from my home town (Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey) including the guy who was just arrested for exposing himself in our hometown playground. Anyway you slice it, I do not need to read about Facebook every five minutes since it has gone public and the cover story on every media outlet on Earth. OK, Mark Zuckereberg made 19 BILLION dollars. Great. What charities does he support? OK, he lost 2 BILLION dollars a day later. Great. What charities does he support? I am very happy… Read More »

This is surely a conundrum.

Months after the horrendous mistake of John Galliano‘s life, comes the verdict. The French court found him guilty of “public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity” stemming from two separate incidents at a bar in Le Marais, his neighborhood in Paris. He is ordered to pay court fees, no jail time and a few other little remarks here and there, which puts an end this disastrous chapter of Galliano’s life. I, for one, am glad this is over. You can see my comments and sentiments below, but what impresses me here is how French court really does… Read More »

The more I looked at the Chanel Fall Couture show the more I like it for reasons of my own. Not that those chunky boucle looks won’t cover up a chub chub, which is a good thing, but more because as fashion leaders, Karl and Coco Chanel have/had the burden to move people forward in what they wear. For Karl, he is taking women a step back to a more sophisticated, elegant time when Hoochie Mama’s did not exist. What so many starlets wear these days is probably enough to make Coco Chanel turn in her grave. The somber quality… Read More »

Let’s get off the Manzie Report for one minute and focus on the grooming during the recent Paris men’s shows. The iconic references were almost palpable. Some of the looks were clearly inspired by the biggest icons from our youth, be it movies, television, or books. There they were, front and center, sashaying down the runways like the ghosts of Christmas past. Follow us on Twitter.com/imeanwhat or Sally Field Us on Facebook.    … Read More »

You have designers like Kris Van Assche and Kris Van Assche showing perfect menswear collections and then there is Thom Browne, using Paris to show his US brand of retardo fashion. Whenever we go there it is never a good thing. Case in point Zac Posen. I don’t even want to go on and on about how pretentious the Thom Browne collection is. I have said it all before and will sadly continue into the future.  Browne is so hell bent on replacing John Galliano’s fashion bad boy reputation in light of the him missing from the scene, that it… Read More »

The Paris shows have barely gotten underway and already have not disappointed. Seems like Marc Jacobs has been wearing skirts long enough to have fully inspired designers like Rick Owens and Yohji Yamamoto, who featured more skirts in their Spring collections for men than any collection Jil Sander did for women, when she had her own eponymous line. SIDEBAR: Now that Jil and Uniqlo have parted ways, perhaps Ms. Sander can figure her way back to regaining control of her name and getting rid of Raf Simons, who besmirched and nellied up the brand, especially this season. Now that women… Read More »

Italian men have the reputation for being sexy, brooding, manly and the overall Spring ’12 season from Milan held steady to that notion. I just barely squeezed enough juice out of the fruit (as it goes) to quench your thirst for a Manzie Report. One can only hope that Paris will have far more tasty fruits in the offing. With that, I give you the final looks from Italy.   Follow us on Twitter.com/imeanwhat or Sally Field Us on Facebook.… Read More »
