More Bla Bla on "vogue"

We have a new early winner for Gross Baboon of the year Award.

I love that famous quote from Francis Ford Copola’s Apocalypse Now, “I love the smell of napalm in the morning.” And I am reminded of that very quote this morning as I read about all the backlash against Rush Limbaugh after he stuck his and everyone on Fox News’ feet in his mouth. Oh and a few Republican Presidential hopefuls as well. Yes, you Mitt & Rick. I have been a Rush hater for years and was reading through my older entries and came upon a starting revelation from January 2010. It was my shock and awe how the liberal… Read More »

Say what you want. Madonna is amazing.

What on Earth is everybody buggin’ out about Madonna’s performance? My phone started buzzing immediately with all these haters ripping Madge a new orifice and I don’t know what these people are thinking. My sister said, “She’s 53, put on a pair of flats and dance. What was that?” First of all that was Madonna giving high-fashion glamazon and doing what she does best… holding court. Here are the facts: Madonna came out as Cleopatra being pulled by a bunch of gayish, football playery looking gladiators. Amazing. Madonna wore Givenchy Couture. Beyond. Madge opened with Vogue. Obsessed knowing that thousands of straight… Read More »

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Anyone Who Will .

Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the water, or from behind a tabloid, comes Kim Kardashian in all her boobalicious glory. Surely she must have been suffering from an acute case of claustrophobia having to hide from the media since leaving that doof-ball after 72 unglorious days of marriage. Kris Jenner must have been keeping her under lock and key as Momager Knows Best. Here is how that exchange went down leading up to this Twitpic.… Read More »

Nothing makes me happier than knowing that the fashion industry is gearing up to help Barack Obama get re-elected. This is good news. Let’s face it, the land of the fabulii fell short during the mid-term elections and were nowhere to be found. Too busy creating signature fragrances, I gather. Be that as it may, all is forgiven…ish. Onward to getting under way at the task at hand. Women’s Wear Daily reports that Anna Wintour / Vogue is starting runwaytowin.com to get designers engaged, creating T-shirts, hosting benefits etc. Let’s just hope this initiative has an engaging grass roots effort… Read More »

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go. Especially on the Red Carpets. Winter white, wedding white, white-white, glistening snowflake white, star-bursts brite (shown here) that is best served atop Christmas trees. You name it. Here are several snow bunnies fresh from their winter wonderlands for your perusal. … Read More »

missoni

Missoni has taken over the airwaves. The overwhelming marketing of the Missoni-Target collection has made me dizzy, perhaps optical illusions and fashion should not go hand in hand. This weekend at a friends house, I used the Missoni (collection) bath towels, which did not dry my hands. The paper thin towels moved the water droplets around but did not fully absorb. Granted, the stripes and colors were fun to look at, but if a towel does not act like a towel then I take issue. The Spring ’12 collection went down the Milan runway and from the looks of things,… Read More »

If you are going to get these many celebs out and about, have them stread the message of raising money for The New York CityTrust.

Don’t get me wrong, I have been a cheerleader for Fashion’s Night Out since the day it was first announced over three years ago. In fact, we rallied retailers that first year as there were plenty of skeptics. Naturally, Anna Wintour prevailed. The 3rd Annual Fashion’s Night Out was a zoo, especially down in the Meatpacking District. So zoo-like, that it was unpleasant in certain spots, with lines to get into stores, blaring dueling DJ’s in the streets and plastic cups strewn on the ground, like a bad weekend street fair. The street activities need some curating, benchmarks, something, because… Read More »

Who is more stunning than Kate Moss? Vogue will hit their September issue out of the park with the cover to end all covers shot by Mario Testino. Do you remember in the documentary, The September Issue, with all the fuss about Sienna Miller being featured on the cover? What was that? He hair was styled like a tomato. And what has she done since then? There is no comparison to when a fashion magazine cover features a supermodel rather than an actress-ish. Excuse me, I saw The Help and Emma Stone is cute, but you can all relax. There’s… Read More »
