America got lost in Paul Ryan's blue eyes. Really lost.

And if the theory of advertising is “sex sells”, then Paul Ryan is to politics that Brooke Shields was to Calvin Klein.… Read More »

We all know about the Emperor’s New Clothes. Those designers who are really not all that, rather, they are a bag of chips and get the ooohs and aaaah from the fashion press. You know who you are, and don’t need me to call you out. Hint: P. S. But we have hit a new level of Emperor’s New Clothes with simply a group of Emperors, namely Brad Goreski. He and Leigh Lezark are like the same person. Well, have you ever seen them together in the same room at the same time? Brad was a fun ditty on season… Read More »

The Milan shows bring out the masculine guns of the fashion industry. Armani, Zegna and Gucci lead the charge in sophisticated, sexy, masculine clothes. One can consider it boring (some of my readers, you know who you are), but it is at the core of the business and must be respected as such. There is less frills on the runways in Milan, than let’s say, it’s sister fashion city, Paris. The shows got off to a hootenanny of a start here in the City of Lights. Once again, we were presented with the quirky man-hat, a look that I was… Read More »

Thom Browne took to the bike lanes with a breezy, cool collection for spring. As a long time bike rider, his homage to cyclists everywhere was refreshing and welcome. Usually I find more things wrong with Thom’s runway collections than right, but I am happy to report that this time around there were more wearable looks than not. Naturally, what’s a Manzie Report without a few good manzies, and with Browne’s theatrical penchant for showing more looks than necessary, there has to be a few bombs in the line-up and here they are. Calvin Klein had a few doozies, too.… Read More »

I actually look forward to when these two do a photo shoot together. – JUST JARED Kathy Griffin is still talking about her under-interesting bedazzled hoo-ha. Like how long ago did you do that? Like I believe those things stayed on? Fotz. – PAGE SIX Style.com agrees with my choice for best dressed at the Costume Institute. Calvin Klein’s simple elegance ruled. – STYLE.COM The biggest loser her was the husband since the Rasha Spindel lost the lbs and moved on to eating other kinds of things. Last night was the big kahuna of the New York City social whirl, The Costume Institute Gala, a.k.a. Anna Wintour’s Playground. If you were not there, then you do not exist. If you are not on Anna’s guest list, you might as well just curl up and die. If you are not BFFs with a top fashion designer, then you might as well just call it a day and move out to the suburbs. Sounds harsh? Perhaps…but it is true. The theme this season was American Woman. There’s all sorts of good reasons for this theme since America’s schmatta business… Read More »

In today’s Women’s Wear Daily, the discussion is whether New York deserves a Men’s Fashion Week, similar to those in Milan and Paris. Listening to the argument, one has to side with the reality that New York needs one in order for these designers to compete with the international business cycle. Naturally I MEAN WHAT?!? has a different agenda, and are voting in favor of New York Manzie Week. Imagine how much fun we will have, especially with the next series of shows being Spring 11, when light frothy outfits come tra-la-la-ing down the runway on gossamer wings. (Note: Whoever… Read More »
